What is Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, Biblically driven program that links the elements of fellowship, worship, teaching, support groups and Bible studies into one format. It's a 12-Step program based on the beatitudes of Jesus. Celebrate Recovery is focused on unhealed hurts, unmet needs and unresolved issues. It centers on our relationship with Jesus Christ who provides healing from sin and spiritual growth.

Isn't Celebrate Recovery for people with addiction problems?

Celebrate Recovery is for anyone with hurts, habits and hang-ups who has not found victory in these areas. Problems such as divorce, depression, fear/anxiety, procrastination, over working, grief, perfectionism, overspending, sexual addictions, eating disorders, anger, hurtful relationships, abuses, insecurities, facebook and/or video gaming addiction, TV and book addiction, gossip, etc.

What is the difference between 12-step programs such as AA and Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery's foundation is Jesus Christ and His word. He is our Higher Power.

Does it cost anything?

There is no cost to attend. Donations are accepted for meals. Bibles, participant's guide and some of the literature are for sale.

What are the meetings like?

The Tuesday evening meetings will begin at 7pm. We will have praise and worship, announcements and testimonials or teachings. At 8pm we will break into small gender specific groups that are focused on different issues. This is a time of shared discussion. You do not have to talk if you choose not to.

Is Celebrate Recovery confidential?

Celebrate Recovery is completely confidential. Who you see there, what you hear there, when you leave, it all stays there. Confidentiality is a requirement.

Do I have to be a member of Destiny Church to attend?

NO, you do not have to be a member of Destiny Church or any other church to attend.

What is the history of Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery began in 1991 at Saddleback Church in California. Pastor Rick Warren and author John Baker launched the first group which has grown into thousands of groups worldwide. Video testimonies can be seen at youtube.com

How do I get started?

All you have to do is show up! You can commit to attending however much you would like.

Is there an age limit? Can teens attend?

Habits, hurts and hang-ups affect every age group. However, teens under the age of 18 need to have parental permission to attend. Contact Pastor Ben Ratchford for more information.
